Welcome to our blog.
Many years ago we decided to expand our family, although we never imagined traveling to China to do so.
We started the process almost 4 1/2 years ago and finally have received the referral for our baby girl.
Her chinese is Yu Meng Qi and she was born November 19, 2009.
We have decided to name her Lauren Nicole Meng Qi Haig and will be leaving for China on July 1.
Marianne and I are delighted to have a new baby in the family and we are both excited and nervous for everything that goes with this addition. Matt is happy to become a big brother and we know he will be great at it
We will try and add pictures and updates to the blog while we are in China so that everyone can join us on this crazy adventure.
We are truly blessed to have such a loving family and great friends. We hope everyone will welcome our little girl into their lives and hearts.

Friday, July 2, 2010: Arriving in Beijing and staying at the Beijing Hotel which is located next
to the famous Wang Fu Jing Street and 10 minutes by walk to the Tian An Men Square.

Saturday, July 3, 2010: Sightseeing in Beijing at the Great Wall and the Summer Palace and
taking photos at the Olympic Stadium. This evening we will experience the famous Beijing
Roast Duck dinner.
Sunday, July 4, 2010: Happy 4th of July!!! Sightseeing at the Forbidden City in the morning and leaving Beijing for Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, by taking Flight MU 5188, which leaves at 17:35pm (5:35pm) and arrives at 19:55pm (7:55pm). Monday, July 5, 2010: Finally after 4 ½ years, we meet Lauren Nicole Meng Qi Haig.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010: This day, we will be escorted by the local guide to go to the Provincial Bureau of Civil Affairs to go through all the adoption formalities required by the Chinese government.
ADOPTION DAY!!!!!
Wednesday, July 7, 2010: Sightseeing at the famous Tengwang Pavilion, a towering pavilion dated back to the year of 653.
Thursday, July 8, 2010: Sightseeing at the Nanchang People’s Park
Friday, July 9, 2010: Sightseeing at the Blessing People Temple and picking up our baby’s passport in the afternoon and then we fly to Guangzhou on China Southern Flight CZ 3626, which leaves at 18:20pm (6:20pm) and arrives at 19:45pm (7:45pm). Saturday, July 10, 2010: This morning we will have Lauren’s visa photo taken and then have her visa medical examination completed. This evening, we will board a Ferry Cruiser, and cruise down the famous Pearl River and receive free dinner on the cruiser.

Monday, July 12, 2010: Sightseeing at the Guangzhou Zoo to see the Pandas
Tuesday, July 13, 2010: Sightseeing at the Six Banyan Trees Temple (also called the Liurong Temple). We can have Lauren blessed there.
Wednesday, July 14, 2010: Visa interview at 10:30am. In the afternoon, sightseeing at the Guangzhou Walking Street.
Thursday, July 15, 2010: On the morning of this day, we will be sightseeing at the Liuhua Park and in the afternoon we will attend the Visa Oath ceremony held in the US Consulate at 4:00pm.
Friday, July 16, 2010: Sightseeing at the Yuexiu Park (also called the Five Lambs Park)
Saturday, July 17, 2010: Departing Guangzhou for Beijing by taking Flight CA 1310, which leaves at 8:00am and arrives 11:00am and then transfer within the Beijing International Airport to the next connection Flight United Airlines 850 which takes off at 16:10pm (4:10pm) for home. Arrive in Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 16:13pm (4:13pm). Leave Chicago on United Airlines Flight 0514 at 18:35pm (6:35pm) and arrive in Newark International Airport at 21:58pm (9:58pm).
