Day Trip

Today was the first day trip with Lauren and all the things necessary to travel with a baby.
The art of suppling a diaper bag had escaped me. First though was bath time and play with big brother time.

Then it was off to the Tenwang Pavilion. A building that is 4 times as old as the United States.

Everything is very old and traditional with added modern touches. Because most buildings were built long ago they have portable A/C united everywhere, although they dont do a very good job. Nanchang and the Jaingxi province is very historical.

There are parks everywhere, from small mediatation parks to large Central Park type parks. The city although very very crowded is tidy. It appears dirty due to all the people and the smog, but you will not find trash on the ground or litter everywhere.

After such a long morning it was time for a nap

We are official

Today we spent the morning doing paperwork. But at about 11:30 we received the Chinese Governments approval of our adoption

We then went shopping at Wall-Mart, just like all Wall-Marts except everything was in Chinese.

Matt did find some Oreo's which actually tasted like Oreo's

 

Lauren seems to be adapting well. She is eating like a true Post and farting like a true Haig.

She is very content and hasn't really cried yet.

China is a very different place.The driving and activitiy on the streets is really crazy. The people all seem very nice especially after we had the baby. Matt is feeling odd getting stared at all the time, but he has been an absolute tropper with this whole thing. The last couple of days were spent mostly in the hotel or government office so he hasn't had much to do. He does like playing with his new sister but just wants her to grow quicker so he can teach her to throw a ball.

We can not wait to get back home so everyone can meet Lauren (code word for babysit) so we can get some real sleep!

Baby on Board

She has arrived!
She was tired from her 5 hour journey but in good spirits. She is trying to adjust to the new faces.
There have been some smiles and grins (looks like she has 2 bottom teeth) very little crying.
She loves laying and playing with the little toys we bought for her.
We are all very excited, but a little wore out.
Today is just a get acquainted day and then tommorow we go to the provincial headquarters to make everything official.
Marianne and I are having fun trying to remmber how to make a bottle, expecially with very little hotel space to work with.

Todays the day!!

It is 11:30 Monday morning and Lauren gets here in about 2 1/2 hours,
everyone is excited and nervous at the same time.

It is hard to beleive the 3 will become 4 in the blink of an eye. Because of the flooding in her town she will actually be brought right to our hotel room

Last Day in Beijng

Today was the last day in Beijing, it was another scorcher but we brave soles ventured out to do some sightseeing.
We walked through a very peaceful garden and emerged on the other side at Tienaaman Square.

We then walked over to see the Forbidden City which stretched for miles

We made a few friends ( I think it was a novalty fro them to get pictures with the americans)

We are all starting to get home sick. There is only so much duck and pigeon to eat before you want burgers and fries. It is intimitating to be the only 3 americans in a crowd od 10, 000 people. Very little english is heard outside the hotels and our guide.

We have made our flight from Beijing to Nanchang and it is 10:15 at night, we wiah we were seeing some fireworks tonight.

We will be meeting Lauren between 2 and 3 tommorow afternoon. Wish us luck

Day 2 Beijing

Today was smoking hot in Beijing - about 96 degrees, thus this hat

We spent 1 hot hour at the Great Wall, of course Matt was the only one to make it to the top

We then were treated to the famous Beijing roast duck dinner. Of course, Chuck liked it the most and ate the most. He will never look at Daffy Duck the same.

2 more days until we get our little girl

There will be more if I can find the proper electric outlet in Nanchang tomorrow night
